Why we exist
We exist to cultivate a community of authentic christ-followers who commit to making disciples.
Whether you're new to church, have been following Jesus for years, or are simply looking for a place to belong, you are welcome at CrossPointe. Our desire is to cultivate a community of authentic Christ-followers where people can grow in their faith, build meaningful relationships, and take their next step with Jesus.
We get our mission from the Great Commission that Jesus gave his disciples: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” –Matthew 28:18-20

How we accomplish our mission
These four pillars shape the heart of who we are at CrossPointe and provide a simple pathway for spiritual growth and discipleship. They guide everything we do as a church, helping people take intentional next steps in their faith, build meaningful community, and live out the purpose God has created them for. No matter where you are on your journey, our desire is to help you grow in Christ and become part of what God is doing through His Church.
We want to be a church where people grow in their faith and truly know Jesus. That's why we center everything on God's Word through biblical teaching, passionate worship, and intentional discipleship. Our goal is for everyone to have a strong, personal relationship with Christ.
Church is not just a place to attend - it is a family to belong to. We are called to connect with both God and His Church. That only happens by establishing intentional, life giving relationships by connecting through small groups, weekly gatherings, and meaningful conversations.
Jesus came to serve, and so should we. We help people discover their God-given gifts and use them to make an impact, both inside the church and in the community. Through serving, we reflect the heart of Christ and help others experience His love in real and tangible ways.
Disciples make disciples. That is what Jesus commanded, and that is what we are about here at CrossPointe. We are intentional about equipping and empowering people to share their faith, invest in others, and continue the cycle of making disciples who make disciples.

The planting of CrossPointe Church
The story of CrossPointe Church began with a calling from God and a heart to reach the Suffolk community with the hope of the gospel. Before there was a church building, Sunday services, or even a church name, the vision began through prayer, faith, and a desire to simply love people well. After Pastor David saw God’s clear leading to plant a church in Suffolk, time was spent building relationships, serving neighbors, and becoming part of the community. Rather than rushing to launch, the focus was on faithfully investing in people and trusting God to guide each step.
On September 14, 2008, CrossPointe officially launched, holding its first services at the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Suffolk. Those early years required faith and flexibility, as every Sunday meant unloading trailers, setting up equipment, and transforming temporary spaces into a place of worship. Even in those beginning days, the heart of CrossPointe was clear: to create a church where people could encounter Jesus, experience authentic community, and take their next step in faith.

a permanent home
In 2010, CrossPointe entered an exciting new chapter when God opened the door for the purchase and renovation of the former Harrell and Hill Funeral Home. What once served one purpose in the community was transformed into a place filled with new life, worship, and the message of hope found in Jesus Christ. This transition marked a significant moment in the church’s history, providing not only a permanent location but also new opportunities for ministry, discipleship, and deeper community impact.
As the church continued to grow, the building became much more than a meeting place—it became home for many people. Families found support during difficult seasons, children and students grew in their faith, and countless people experienced salvation, baptism, and spiritual growth. Through community events, outreach opportunities, and weekly gatherings, CrossPointe strengthened its presence in Suffolk while continuing to focus on helping people know Jesus and grow in relationship with Him. God’s faithfulness was evident as the church continued to take steps forward with confidence and trust.

The church expands
In 2020, CrossPointe celebrated another major milestone with the completion of its current auditorium, creating much-needed space for continued growth and ministry. What had once begun as a portable church meeting in a hotel had grown into a thriving church family, and the need for additional space became increasingly clear. The completion of the auditorium allowed CrossPointe to expand into multiple services, welcome more families, and continue creating environments where people of all ages could worship, grow, and connect.
This season also served as a reminder of God’s continued provision and faithfulness. Through every challenge and season of change, CrossPointe remained committed to its mission of reaching the lost in Suffolk, and God continued to reward the efforts that were being made. Ministries continued to grow, lives continued to be transformed, and the church remained focused on reaching people both inside and outside its walls. The expansion was not simply about creating more room, but about making more space for people to experience the love and hope of Christ.

Continued growth
Today, CrossPointe continues to look ahead with gratitude for all God has done and anticipation for all that is still to come. While much has changed since the early days of setting up chairs in a hotel ballroom, the heart and mission of the church remain unchanged. CrossPointe exists to cultivate a community of authentic Christ-followers who commit to making disciples, helping people take intentional next steps in their faith through believing, connecting, serving, and replicating.
As the CrossPointe continues to grow, there remains a strong commitment to investing in families, discipling the next generation, serving the Suffolk community, and sharing the gospel with those who need hope. CrossPointe believes the best chapters are still ahead and remains committed to faithfully following wherever God leads. The story of CrossPointe is still being written, and every person who walks through the doors has an opportunity to be part of what God is doing.
